10 Steps to Becoming an Interactive Whiteboard Wizard! With Daydream Education’s Interactive Whiteboard Charts

1 Feb 06

The interactive whiteboard has become an integral part of many classrooms across the UK. For many teachers it is already an indispensable learning tool but sadly for some it is used as nothing more than a blank screen to project onto.

Daydream Education has developed award winning Interactive Whiteboard Charts for the teachers who would like to make more of their interactive whiteboards.

Below is a ten step guide to using the Interactive Whiteboard Charts that will bring your current lesson plans to life and make every teacher a whiteboard wizard in minutes!

  • STEP 1 – In no time at all you will be navigating the chart with consummate ease. Click into the chart and take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the “ user-friendly” toolbar. You can find additional information on each aspect of the tool bar by simply pressing the “Help” button
  • STEP 2 – Supplement existing lessons by combining the charts concepts and your tried and tested lesson plans
  • STEP 3 – Interact with the chart and remove the text and images by simply touching each item, or remove all text and images through the tool bar
  • STEP 4 – Build the lesson as you wish by introducing images, text and animation whilst explaining the charts key concepts. Each chart has the same simple format although some lend themselves to animation better than others.
  • STEP 5 – To increase the interactivity with even the most basic charts use the interactive whiteboard tools allowing you to adapt and tailor your lessons. The interactive whiteboard pens are ideal for annotation and highlighting important issues within the chart
  • STEP 6 – The Whiteboard Charts are designed with classroom presentations in mind but there are times where text needs to be enlarged. Use the whiteboard’s magnifying glass for key words and sentences
  • STEP 7 – Once you have fully investigated the chart, let the pupils explore the “Fun Feature”, reinforcing key concepts through engaging interactive activities. The “ Fun Features” are designed to be played on a whiteboard where the touch screen enhances the pupil’s ability to interact with the subject matter. Follow the simple prompts which guide pupils of all abilities through the activity.
  • STEP 8 – Advance to the interactive “Quiz” section. Divide the class into teams and allow them to explore the quiz. Alternatively if you are in an I.T. suite, why not navigate the chart as a class and allow the pupils to complete the quiz on an individual PC/MAC.
  • STEP 9 – Fill in the pupils’ details for a printable summary sheet that allows you to evaluate each students understanding of the topic
  • STEP 10 – Finally, print the “chart specific” worksheets as a quick and easy test or homework assignment. The worksheets are closely aligned with the charts and devised to save you valuable preparation time.
